Timothy Frank Dilger, age 84

Timothy Frank Dilger died suddenly in the early morning hours of December 1, 2024. He was 84.Tim married Barbara Ficker on November 26, 1964, in Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda, Indiana and just celebrated 60 years of marriage. His parents were Richard F. and Gertrude Bettag Dilger.

He was a United States Army veteran serving in Germany for three years. He retired from Memorial Hospital in Jasper after 30 years of supervising building and construction projects.

Tim was a member of Holy Family Church, the Holy Name Society, and a lifetime member of the Jasper Rifle and Gun Club.

He was a NASCAR race fan and loved to mow grass and spend time outdoors. He was a talented woodworker and built many muzzleloading shotguns. He had a thriving gun repair business for 40 years. He will be remembered as a kind and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather with a great sense of humor and a talent for long stories and jokes. We will miss his grin!

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Dilger of Jasper; two daughters: Kelley (John) Knies of Evansville; and Tracey (Duane) Welp of Jasper; four grandchildren: Tyler (Lauren) Coppens, Allison (Kyle) Haas, Emily (Collin) Brinker, and Lindsey (Emma) Welp; and one great-grandson James Brinker. Tim is also survived by two sisters: Patricia Douglas and Jacqueline Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Harvey and sister-in-law Betty Dilger.

A Mass of Christian burial for Timothy Frank Dilger will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. The American Legion Post #147 will perform military graveside rites.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6th, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. Mass time on Saturday.Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church Bereavement Luncheon Fund or to a favorite charity.
