Raymond A. "Ray" Larkin, age 88 of Jasper

Raymond A. "Ray" Larkin, age 88 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 5:27 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2020 at home.
 
Ray was born in Washington, Indiana on February 2, 1932 to Joseph C. and Ruth (Adams) Larkin.  He married Nancy Apple on September 3, 1962 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
 
He graduated from Loogootee High School where he was a prominent high school basketball player.  He then graduated with a marketing degree from Notre Dame University in 1956.  
 
Ray was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Korean War, and was a member of the Jasper American Legion Post #147 and the VFW Post #673. 
 
He owned and operated the Home Outfitters Furniture Stores, which operated for over 45 years in five locations, including Jasper, Loogootee, Washington, Petersburg and Vincennes.
 
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, the Jasper Kiwanis Club, The St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Notre Dame Club of Southern Indiana, and was an associate of the Little Company of Mary.   
 
He enjoyed attending sporting events, especially Notre Dame Football games and Jasper High School Athletics, traveling, and volunteering at the Dubois County Museum.
 
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Larkin of Jasper, one sister; Nancy Dooley, Phoenix, AZ, nieces and nephews.
 
Preceding him in death were three brothers; David, Jerry, Jack Larkin, and two sisters; Mary Ruth Larkin, and Gene Larkin Pearson.
 
A private visitation and Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.  The VFW Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.   

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Dubois County Museum, or the St. Vincent de Paul Society - Community Meals.
