Mary Ruth Emmons, age 91 of Cuzco
Mary Ruth Emmons, age 91 of Cuzco, Indiana, passed away on April 29, 2020 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Mary Ruth was born in Cuzco, Indiana on December 28, 1928 to Earl and Olive (Cox) Beatty. She married George W. "Buddy" Emmons on June 20, 1948 in Cuzco Methodist Church in Cuzco, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2015.
Mary Ruth graduated from Cuzco High School in 1946. She obtained associates degrees from Lockyears Business College and Nortwood Institute where she was awarded the Summa Cum Laude. She worked as an office manager at Paoli Hospital and a secretary at Northwood Institute where she later retired.
Mary Ruth was a member of the Wickliffe United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir and played piano for many of the church services.
She enjoyed music and was a very talented pianist. She belonged to the singing group, Dubois Musical Belles where she sang for Jasper nursing home residents.
Mary Ruth loved working outside in her flower garden. She always had a colorful display of blooming flowers and trees in her yard. She loved watching college basketball and her favorite team was the Indiana Hoosiers. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are one daughter; Peggy (Gordon) Burton of Cuzco, IN, three sons; Garry (Pat) Emmons, Cuzco, IN, Danny (Janie) Emmons, Corydon, IN, Timothy (Missy) Emmons, Cuzco, IN, seven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, and one on the way.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were three grandchildren; Jessie B. Emmons, Clint W. Emmons, and infant Shain Emmons.
Private funeral services will be held at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Homes in Jasper, with burial at a later date.
