Martha J. Williams, age 83, of Jasper

Martha was born in Jasper, Indiana, on July 8, 1941, to Martin and Clara (Lampert) Birk. She married James L. Williams on July 3, 1965, in St. Jospeh Catholic Church in Jasper. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2011.   

She retired as a cook from the Schnitzelbank Restaurant. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Saint Anne’s Society. She enjoyed playing solitaire, crossword puzzles, word searches, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   

Martha is survived by two daughters: Debbie (Jim) Gardner, Jasper; and Sandra (Dave) Clark, Jasper, two grandchildren: Jeremy Gardner and Jessica (Jordan) Kahle, three great-grandchildren: Ariel and Lainey Kahle and Olivia Gardner, and one sister, Janice (Allen) Bromm, and nieces and nephews.    

She is preceded in death by her husband and two sisters: Betty Hochgesang and Mary Lou Tretter, and one brother, Donnie Birk. 

A funeral service for Martha J. Williams will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Funeral Home. Father John Brosmer will officiate. A burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Anne’s Society will pray a rosary at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St Joseph Catholic Church.
