Marietta Johnson, age 90 of Jasper

Marietta Johnson, age 90 of Jasper, formerly of Terre Haute, passed away at the St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper on Friday, September 11, 2020, surrounded by her daughters.
 
She was born in Ohio on June 16, 1930, and raised in Natrona Heights, PA.  It was there she met the love of her life, Richard H. Johnson.  They were married on February 14, 1953.  He preceded her in death on June 6, 1997.
 
Marietta attended Mary Washington College in Virginia and New Kensington Commercial School in Pennsylvania.  She worked as a receptionist at both WBOW Radio and The Crossroads of America Council of the Boy Scouts in Terre Haute. 
 
She was an avid bridge player.  Her hobbies included counted cross-stitch and using a computer.  Marietta was a devoted wife and mother, known for her quick wit and sense of humor.
 
Surviving are two daughters; Linda Sherfick (Larry) of Shoals, Indiana, and Mary Johnson of Norfolk, Virginia, two grandchildren; Elise Hasenstab of Norfolk, VA, and Augustus Sherfick of Austin, Texas, niece; Janet Caryll (Sam), Glenshaw, PA,  nephew; Bob Johnson (Lisa), Racine, WI.
 
Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles and Blanche McKnight.
 
A private graveside service will be held at the Highland Lawn Cemetery in Terre Haute, Indiana.  
 
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that, in Marietta's words, "Do something nice for yourself"
