Lowell F. Dorsam, age 79, of Haysville

Lowell F. Dorsam, age 79, of Haysville, Indiana, passed away at 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at home.
 
Lowell was born in Portersville, Indiana, on July 10, 1940, to Clispy and Leona (Sullivan) Dorsam.  He married Berta Sue Harder on July 28, 1960, in Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana.
 
He was a 1958 graduate of Dubois High School.
 
He worked at Jasper Novelty and retired from Kimball Upholstery.
 
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, where he served on the church council.
 
He joined the Haysville Fire Department in 1964, and was active as a firefighter over 50 years, also serving as chief and assistant chief during his time on the department.  He was a member of the Haysville Park Board, Haysville Water Board, and the Jasper Outdoor Recreation.  He mowed the Haysville park for over 30 years, was the Grand Marshall of the Haysville Bicentennial and played softball in the Haysville men's league.
 
He enjoyed mowing grass, gardening, watching I.U., the Indiana Pacers, and NASCAR.  He also loved his '59 Ford and spending time with his family.
 
Surviving are his wife, Berta Sue Dorsam, Jasper, IN, one daughter, Cindy (Rick) Vogler, Haysville, IN, five sons, Scott Dorsam, Dubois, IN, Kieth (Cindy) Dorsam, Dubois, IN, Brian Dorsam, and companion, Kathy Zehr, Haysville, IN, Brett (Christine) Dorsam, Haysville, IN, and Jason Dorsam, Haysville, IN,  10 grandchildren, Ryan and Eric Vogler, Breann Brosmer, MacKenzi Dorsam, Evan, Trey, and Quinn Dorsam, Nicole Bethel, Brandy Dorsam, and Kinley Dorsam, six great grandchildren, one sister, Joan Harker, Alfordsville, IN, one brother, Russell Dorsam, Haysville, IN.
 
A funeral service for Lowell F. Dorsam will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020, in Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana.  Pastor Tim Kraemer will officiate.
 
A visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, and one hour before services at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, the Dorsam Softball Field or to a favorite charity.
