John Leo Walker, 75, of Loogootee

John Leo Walker, 75, of Loogootee, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022, at his home. 

He was born July 25, 1946, in Portersville, Indiana to the late George K. and Marie M. (Arvin) Walker. 

John was an Air Force veteran and served overseas during the Vietnam War. He went on to retire from NSWC Crane as a machinist. He was a member of the American Legion – Post 120, Veteran of Foreign War – Post 9395, and The Fraternal Order of Eagles – Post 2442. 

He loved the outdoors. Whether it was mowing, fishing, or taking care of the farm, John loved to be outside. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, George W. (Linda) Walker, Joseph A. Walker, Michael J. Walker, Mary Ruth Walker and Polly Walker; brother-in-law, Larry G. Bair; nephews, Jason and Trenton Bair. 

John is survived by his daughters, Justina Walker and Jonna Walker, both of Loogootee; grandchildren, MacKenzie Walker, Sydney Blankenbaker and A.J. Blankenbaker; great-granddaughter, Charlie Walker; siblings, Rebecca L. Bair, Carl R. Walker, Cindy (Jay) Smith and Peggy L. Walker, all of Loogootee; many nieces, nephews, great-niece and great-nephews; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Borden and Ilene Walker. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be held Monday, June 27, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the St. Martin Catholic Church Hall. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
