John Edward "Cigar" Schitter, age 67, of Haysville
John Edward "Cigar" Schitter, age 67, of Haysville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home at 11:40 pm on Monday, June 8, 2020.
John was born in Jasper, Indiana, on June 21, 1952, to Aloysius and Mabell (Dorsem) Schitter. He married Rose Kelley on December 3, 1983, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dubois, Indiana.
John enjoyed truck driving and spending time with his family especially his grandkids and great grandkids.
John was a truck driver for 44 years. He drove for Jasper Plant Foods, Jasper Leasing, and Roark Trucking.
He was a member of the Jasper Outdoor Recreation Center, the Ireland Sportsman Club, and the Jasper Moose Lodge #1175.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Rose Schitter, Haysville, IN, one stepson, Dave (Carol) Jellison, St. Anthony, IN, three grandsons, Craig (Whitney) Jellison, Loogootee, IN, Kyle Jellison, St. Anthony, IN, Eric (Valerie) Jellison, Birdseye, IN, and five great grandkids, Brooklyn, Alexis, Waylon Jellison all of Birdseye, IN, Ava and Evan Jellison, both of Loogootee, IN, two sisters, Kathy (Allen) Schneider and Patty (Duane) Scherle, and three brothers, Mike (Debbie) Schitter, Butch Schitter, and Ron (Sharlene) Schitter.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Aloysius and Mabell Schitter, and two sisters Maggy Clark and Cindy Schitter.
Graveside services for John Edward "Cigar" Schitter will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to St Judes Children's Hospital.
