Janice Jones, age 73, of Huntingburg

Janice Jones, age 73, of Huntingburg, passed away at 1:08 p.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at her residence.

She was born February 2, 1946, in Ferdinand, IN to Eckhart and Catherine (Blume) Egler; and was united in marriage to Sam R. Jones on December 5, 1964, at St. Ferdinand Church in Ferdinand.  Janice worked as a registered nurse; and enjoyed sewing Christmas Stockings, golfing, and bird watching.  She is known to have identified almost 400 species of birds.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lloyd Egler; one sister, Rose Mary Messmer and by one brother-in-law, Gary Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Sam R. Jones of Huntingburg, two sons, Scott (Marsha) Jones of Jasper, Chris (Tami) Jones of Evansville; one daughter, Stephanie (Ron) Schepers of Jasper; three brothers, Daniel (Naomi) Egler of Jasper, Louis (Mae) Egler of Erlanger, KY, Francis (Jane) Egler of Ferdinand; one sister, Shirley Smith of Ferdinand; by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Janice Jones will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., Monday, August 12, 2019, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Augusta Cemetery in Augusta.  Chaplain Jason Rae will officiate the service.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 11^th, and also one hour prior to the service on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
