Grace Jean Owen, 81, of French Lick

Grace Jean Owen, 81, of French Lick, Indiana entered into eternal rest on August 30th, 2021 at Springs Valley Meadows in French Lick, Indiana.


She was born in Youngs Creek, Indiana on September 7th, 1939 to Roy Carson and Lottie Mae (Goforth) Hobson.

Grace married Ellis "Jack" Owen on August 17th, 1963 and he preceded her in death.

She was also receded in death by her parents, two brothers - Thomas and Marion Hobson, and step-son David.

Grace was a graduate of Paoli High School and had worked at Flick's Restaurant and the Villager using her cooking skills.

She was the French Lick South Precinct Committee Chair for over 40 years and enjoyed a good political debate. Grace volunteered many years at the West Baden Dome selling tickets for tours and talking to visitors about the dome.

Grace loved spending time with her great-grandchildren, Elliott and Quinn, sharing her love of cooking, birdwatching and playing board games.

She is survived by: her daughter, Donna Winger (Barry), of French Lick, sisters Dorothy King, of Paoli, and Nancy Sease, of Orleans, and brother-in-law Benny Owen of Paoli. She is survived by four grandchildren - Justin Wininger, Cassie Vera, Buffy Matthews, and Jamie Owen. She is survived by 6 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Linda Presley on Saturday, September 4th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home with burial to follow at Paoli Community Cemetery.

Visitation for friends will be Saturday, September 4th, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
