Darrell Willis Stoll, 93, of Carmel

Darrell Willis Stoll, 93, of Carmel, IN, formerly of Washington and Bloomington, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 29, 2023, with his family by his side.

He was born December 6, 1929 in Daviess County, IN; son of Peter and Melinda (Graber) Stoll.  Darrell graduated from Montgomery High School in 1949 and was President of his senior class. He had a deep love for his country and served during the Korean War in the United States Air Force.  Darrell was a skilled carpenter, home builder and salesman in his professional life, and retired from Prudential Insurance.  He was also a member and officer in various service clubs such as the American Legion, Moose Lodge, and a past president of the Bloomington Exchange Club.  In his later years he also served as a volunteer at the Daviess County Community Hospital.

Darrell loved spending time with his family and friends while fishing, playing euchre, or enjoying grilling. He was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds and IU basketball. Darrell loved to tell stories and was generous with sharing his time, talent, and knowledge of his building experience.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Betty (Keller) Stoll, second wife Peggy (Leap) Stoll, two brothers and five sisters.  He is survived by his children Mark (Kathy) Stoll of Brooklyn, MI., Nena Schreiber of Terre Haute, IN., Jeff (Shelley) Stoll of Phoenix, AZ., and Cara (Tom) Hellmich of Carmel, IN.  Step-children Connie (Brad) Miller of Boonville, IN., Rick (Donna) Carrico of Evansville, IN., and Jim (Charlotte) Carrico of Derby, IN., His legacy also includes 12 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, as well as 15 great-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 4, 2023, at 2:00 P.M (Eastern Standard Time) at Blake & Wagler Funeral Home in Montgomery, IN. with the Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker to officiate. Burial and military rights will follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.

 Visitation will be held Saturday February 4, 2023, from 12:00 P.M until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Darrell’s name.
