Clarissa B. Gehlhausen, age 91, of Jasper

Clarissa B. Gehlhausen, age 91, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 4:49 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2019, in the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.

Clarissa was born in St. Anthony, Indiana, on September 14, 1927, to Anthony and Katie (Hasenour) Klem.  She married Ralph J. Gehlhausen on October 16, 1947, in St. Anthony Catholic Church.  He preceded her in death on September 27, 2010.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Jasper Implement, Inc., a business co-owned by the family.  She was also a long-time seamstress for Corbin's Drapery.  

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the VFW Auxiliary.

She really enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren,  was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's fan and also liked playing cards, and going to the casino.

Surviving, three sons, Tom  (Ruth) Gehlhausen and Gary (Lisa) Gehlhausen, Jasper, IN, Ken (Ruth) Gehlhausen, Jenison, MI, one daughter, Linda (Brad) Peters, St. Charles, MO, 10 grandchildren, Brian Gehlhausen, Kelli Ballerstaller, Amy Kasten, Chelsea Bilkovic, Katie Gruenbauer, Ross and Abby Gehlhausen, Beth Jankowski, Erica Kaczmarek, and Sam Peters, 13 great grandchildren, Owen and Ava Gehlhausen, Max, Katarina, and Alex Ballerstaller, Kieran, Hallie, and Brenna Kasten, Audrey, Franklin, and Susanna Bilkovic, and Rylee and Reese Gehlhausen, and one sister, Loretta Humbert, Celestine, IN.

Preceding her in death besides her husband, are one son, Eddie Joe Gehlhausen, one great granddaughter, Malayna Gruenbauer, four sisters, Leona Jahn, Frances Klem, Ardella Humbert, and Anna Betz, and three brothers, Andrew, Edward, and Alois Klem.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Clarissa B. Gehlhausen will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2019, at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana. 

A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, and one hour before services from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church on Friday.  The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary will pray a rosary at 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.
