Carolyn Jane Norris, 77, of Loogootee

Carolyn Jane Norris, 77, of Loogootee, IN passed away on Wednesday August 31, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN with her family by her side.

She was born on May 15, 1945, in Loogootee, IN to William “Andy” and Dorothy E. (Carrico) Combess.

Carolyn Jane married Gary G. Norris on October 10, 1964, and they were married for 55 years before he passed away on October 30, 2019. She was a proud graduate of the St. John Class of 1963. Carolyn Jane kept in touch with her friends and classmates and was frequently seen on outings and social events around town. In her younger years, Carolyn Jane enjoyed working at Julie’s Flowers. She retired from Crane Army Ammunition Activity in 2011 after 20 plus years of dedicated work. Carolyn was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Known as “Aunt Jane” to her nieces and nephews, she stayed very active in their lives and was known as their 1# Cheerleader in the events they attended. She loved reading, watching hummingbirds, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary G. Norris, her parents, William “Andy” and Dorothy E. (Carrico), her brothers, Bill Combess, Denny Combess, Sister – in – law, Janet Combess, Brother – in – law, Paul J. Wittmer.

Carolyn in survived by her daughter, Dina Ferguson of Burns City, IN, her brother, Scott (Darleen) Combess of Burns City, IN, sisters, Mary (Mike) Muessig of Loogootee, IN, Kathy Wittmer of Loogootee, IN, Amy (Brian) Emery of Montgomery, OH, sister -in -law Millie Combess of Burns City, IN, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 A.M Monday September 5, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday September 4, 2022, from 1:00 P.M until 5:00 P.M at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, IN and again on Monday from 9:00 A.M until 9:45 A.M at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Carolyn Jane Norris.
