Carolyn Faye Cunningham, age 91, of Santa Claus

Carolyn Faye Cunningham, age 91, of Santa Claus, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center.

She was born July 13, 1931, in Decatur, Illinois to Roy Herman and Hazel Thelma (Collett) Grimes.  She married Gerald O. Cunningham on June 15, 1952 in Decatur, Illinois.  Carolyn was a graduate of Illinois State University where she received her degree in education. She taught Home Economics at Maroa High School in Illinois.  She was a member of Illinois Teacher’s Association and PTA President.  She loved gardening and was a member of the Christmas Lake Garden Club and the Lincoln Club of Southern Indiana.  Carolyn was a member of Faith Community Church of the Nazarene where she served as secretary for over 20 years.  She was a church board member and NMI President. She enjoyed and was always involved with church activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gerald on May 28, 2015; a son, Rex Cunningham in 2020; and a sister Barbara Thompson.

She is survived by her daughter, Dee (Bill) Lusk; a son, Jay Cunningham both of Santa Claus;a daughter-in-law, Jodi Cunningham of Arizona; a sister, Linda (Charles) Ramsden of Tennessee; a brother, David (Phyllis) Grimes of Ferdinand; six grandchildren, Genevieve, Joseph (Tiffany), Matthew, Andrew, Katherine, Christopher; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Katie, Jaiden, Cayla and Mordecai.

Funeral services for Carolyn Cunningham will be held at 11:00 a.m., E.S.T., Friday, December 2, 2022, at Faith Community Church of the Nazarene in Huntingburg.  Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.  Pastors William Covey and Alan Bradley will officiate the service.

Friends may call for visitation at Nass and Son Funeral Home from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the church, on Friday prior to the service.  Nass & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to Nazarene Missions International.  Condolences may be shared online at:  www.nassandson.com
