Bernice Gerlach, age 91, of Huntingburg

 Bernice Gerlach, age 91, of Huntingburg, passed away at 4:55 a.m., on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born March 11, 1928, in Huntingburg, Indiana, to John A. and Rose (Hess) Lasher; and married Russel E. Gerlach on September 20, 1949, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.  Bernice worked as a medical and dental office receptionist; was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post #2366 Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and the Daughters of Isabella; and was a Saint Louis Cardinals fan.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Russel E. Gerlach, who passed away on February 11, 2012; three siblings, Ardella Carson, Imelda Whitten and John C. Lasher; and one grandson, Matthew Fink.

 She is survived by three children, Kevin (Marge) Gerlach of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Martha Gerlach Fink of Huntingburg and Cheryl (Steve) Rauscher of Huntingburg; two brothers, Richard Lasher of Gulfport, Mississippi and Charles Lasher of Lexington, Kentucky; by (6) grandchildren and (4) great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand.         

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday, June 7th.  A parish rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. and a V.F.W. Auxiliary vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday evening, at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
