WorkOne Opens New Office, Locally Low Unemployment Will Force Them to Focus on Workforce Retention

JASPER -- The Jasper Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting Tuesday afternoon at the new WorkOne office on the VU Jasper Campus.
WorkOne helps people find a new or better job, choose a career, access training, or get the information needed to succeed in today's ever-evolving workplace.
"VUJC is a great place for us to be as far as preparing the workforce," says Sara Wortsell , Executive Director of WorkOne Southwest. "If an individual is looking to change careers and needs a short-term certification, this is the perfect place to be. We really are, then, the one-stop system to be able to make those career changes."
News Director David Shepherd asked Wortsell about Dubois County’s low unemployment rates and how that may impact the new office.
"With low unemployment and a strong [local] economy, that forces our attention to workforce retention," Wortsell explains. "Not only is the community, the individuals, our customer, but also businesses. So, we are helping businesses know how to retain the employees that they have but also promote their brand; their awareness to the emerging workforce."
The new WorkOne Jasper location is in VUJC’s Administration Building Room 226. Hours are Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
