JASPER -- Dubois County’s COVID death toll has taken a big climb over the past seven days, based on daily numbers released on the state of Indiana's COVID-19 Dashboard.

Officials reported five new fatalities in the county in Sunday’s update.  Over the past seven days, we’ve lost 16 of our residents to COVID-related complications.  We’ve lost a total of 59 Dubois County residents since the start of the pandemic.

In addition to the deaths, local officials reported 43 new cases in the county Sunday.

Dubois County has a seven-day positivity rate of 23.5%.  We remain under a CODE RED designation.  Based on the positivity rates over the past week, it’s unlikely that will change when the state reassesses those color codes on Wednesday.
