Vincennes University Jasper Benefitting from Jasper Strassenfest Drawing and Hosting Basketball Contest

JASPER, Ind. - The Jasper Strassenfest is an annual event that celebrates the rich German tradition and people that established the city’s roots, and Vincennes University Jasper is once again taking part in this special celebration.
VU Jasper is hosting the 19th annual Hot Shot Basketball Shooting Contest on Friday, Aug. 6 as part of the Jasper Strassenfest, which is taking place Aug. 5-8. The contest is at the VU Jasper Ruxer Gym and is free. It features divisions for boys and girls, grades 2 through 12, and for adults, including a Senior Division for individuals 55 years and older.
Check-in and registration begin at 8 a.m. eastern time. Participants must bring their own basketball. First-place finishers in each division will receive a trophy. For more details and rules, contact VU Jasper at [email protected] or 812-481-3077.

The Strassenfest is celebrating VU Jasper’s dedication to higher education and the 50th anniversary of the campus with a new event.

The festival is selling for the first time tickets to a half-pot drawing. A portion of the proceeds will support the VU Jasper Foundation’s Dubois County Scholastic Excellence Award scholarships that provide full tuition to several VU Jasper students. Students also receive a laptop and stipend.

As of Aug. 3, the current pot total was more than $56,000.
