JASPER -- Two people have been fined over $333 by the Dubois County Commissioners for illegally dumping 23 bags of trash on three county roads, this according to the Dubois County Free Press.

The Commissioners fined Sean Lemond and Jill Clark around $100 per dumping incident.

The fine is to help cover the cost of the resources used to clean up their mess, and to investigate who was responsible.

Lemond told the Commissioners he paid someone to dispose of the trash, but admitted it was his responsibility to ensure it was done correctly.

The Solid Waste Management District recommends residents buy trash stickers and tag your bags rather than paying someone to do it to be sure it gets done properly.
