AREA WIDE -- Tuesday is a global Day of Giving, and your donations this year will go to help kids in desperate need right here at home.

The annual Day of Giving is a world-wide effort, collecting donations to help those within the community.

This year, local donations will go to the Southwestern Indiana Child Advocacy Center Coalition.

It provides forensic interviewing services to children reporting abuse in Dubois, Crawford, Daviess, Martian, Orange, Perry and Spencer Counties.

The non-profit group serves as an advocate for child victims of physical and sexual abuse.

The group is seeking monetary donations.  But they also need supplies for the families utilizing their services. Needed items include paper towels, toilet paper and Kleenex.

You can also donate crayons, books, chalk, candy, puzzles and board games, in addition to cleaning items, gift cards, bottled water or anything else you think the families may need.

You can drop donations off Tuesday at the local police departments in Jasper, Huntingburg, Washington, and Santa Claus.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Department is also accepting donations during today’s annual Day of Giving.
