SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT: Snow Could Impact Portions of the Area Tonight

From: The National Weather Service

* Special Weather Statement issued November 9 at 6:01PM CST by NWS Paducah KY

* Areas Affected: Saline; Daviess; Henderson; Warrick; Vanderburgh; Gibson; Jackson; Posey; Williamson; Webster; Franklin; Pike; White; McLean; Spencer; Hamilton; Wabash; Union; Perry; Gallatin

* A fast moving winter system moving across eastern Missouri this evening will push into parts of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, and northwest Kentucky tonight. As the evening progresses, there will be a change from a rain and snow mix to scattered snow showers.

Along with the precipitation, gusty northwest winds near 25 mph could drop wind chills to around 20 overnight. The combination of gusty winds and snow showers may cause lowered visibilities on the road, especially along the Interstate 64 corridor in southeast Illinois and southwest Indiana.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 pm to 10 pm for Jefferson, Wayne, and Edwards Counties in southern Illinois.

Even though ground and road surfaces are still warm, a quick burst of snow may produce a brief accumulation of snow on elevated surfaces such as bridges.

If you are planning travel this evening or overnight, keep posted on the latest weather and road conditions.
