IRELAND -- The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help investigating a serious crash Saturday.

It happened just before 12:30 p.m. on SR 56 near Ireland.

Police say two vehicles collided in the roadway after one of the drivers went left of center to avoid hitting a car trying to pass in their lane.

In all, four people were taken to the hospital.

One person was life-flighted to another hospital due to the extent of her injuries.

Police are looking to identify the vehicle that passed one of the vehicles.

Investigators believe two people were in the car at the time.

It’s described as a brown or tan, older model passenger car.

Witnesses say it had an Indiana plate, “In God We Trust,” with XL, and possible 28 as some of the numbers.

If you have any information about that vehicle, contact Deputy Clint Gogel at 812-482-3522.
