Second Public Visioning Workshop Planned for “Your Home, Your Huntingburg” Comprehensive Plan Update

HUNTINGBURG -- The City of Huntingburg is hosting a second public visioning workshop for the “Your Home Your Huntingburg” comprehensive plan update, which will serve as a roadmap for future growth and development in the city over the next 10-20 years. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Old Town Hall, located at 309 N. Geiger Street in Huntingburg.

“During the first visioning workshop in July, we focused on challenges for the community and ideas for the future. We have taken all of the public input collected during the first workshop and developed a draft vision statement, goals, and strategies,” says Director of Community Development Rachel Steckler. “In the second workshop, we are asking attendees to help us finalize and prioritize these statements and strategies.”

The workshop will be an open-house format, which allows attendees to stop by at any point during the allotted time frame and spend as much time as they would like. Following the public workshop, the City will work with Taylor Siefker Williams Design Group and the steering committee to draft the full comprehensive plan document, which will then be available for public review. After public input is collected on the draft document, the plan will go before the Plan Commission and City Council for a formal adoption in Spring of 2020.

“We are excited about the great ideas we have heard so far and look forward to the additional feedback at this second workshop,” says Mayor Denny Spinner. “It’s a great way to kick-off the Christmas Stroll weekend by stopping by and sharing some ideas for the future of our community during this open house.”
