READ CAREFULLY: Dubois and Perry Counties Amend Burn Bans

FROM LOCAL SOURCES

JASPER -- Officials in Dubois County have made an amendment to the burn ban.

The amendment will allow the following:

Campfires and recreational fires, that are continuously accompanied and enclosed in a fire ring with dimensions of 23 inches in diameter X 10 inches high or taller;

The following are still prohibited in Dubois County:

1. Open burning of any kind using conventional fuel such as wood, or other combustible matter, with the exception of grills fueled by charcoal briquettes or propane;

2. The burning of debris, such as timber or vegetation, including such debris that results from building construction activities;

3. Bon Fires

Officials in Perry County have lifted their burn ban with no restrictions.

The drought monitor still lists our area under moderate drought conditions.  Our friends just to the south of Dubois County are still seeing severe conditions according to that same data.
