Police Warn Area Businesses of Counterfeit $100 Bills

FRENCH LICK -- Police in Orange County are warning businesses of funny money circulating through the area.

Police say counterfeit $100 bills have been passed at several businesses in Orange and several other counties.

Locally, police have investigated a total of $900 in fake bills recently from West Baden Springs, French Lick, Paoli, Michell and Orleans.

Business owners told investigators the bills all passed an ink test, and looked authentic in size.

The bills did have a bleached smell and the image quality was slightly distorted.

Residents who are concerned they are inadvertently in possession of fake bills, or if you’re able to identify the suspects, contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at 723 – 2417.
