DAVIESS COUNTY -- There’s a reason we are under the burn ban.  Someone in Daviess County found out the hard way Wednesday after an open burn sparked a field fire.

It happened near Washington Township.

Officials say corn stubble caught fire and quickly spread due to the breezy conditions.

3 trucks and a local farmer worked to quickly put the fire out.

Fire officials remind you, in these conditions, it doesn’t take much to spark a fire and have it spread out of control fast.

Burn bans remain in effect for Dubois, Daviess, Martin, Spencer, Warrick, Crawford, Perry, Pike, Lawrence and Jackson Counties.
