POLICE: Driver High on Meth When He Hit Tree in Jasper Overnight, Passenger Has "Serious Spine and Head Injuries"

JASPER -- A Dubois man was transported to the hospital early this morning with serious head and spinal injuries after a car he was riding in crashed into a tree.

It happened just after 1:30 a.m. this morning on South Clay Street in Jasper.

Police say the driver, 28-year-old William Laswell of English, was high on meth and THC at the time of the crash.

He’s charged with a felony count of OWI Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and misdemeanor counts of OWI, and OWI Endangerment.

The passenger suffered serious head and spinal injuries and was sent to Memorial Hospital.  He was then transferred to an Evansville hospital.

Since the passenger is not facing criminal charges, we will not release his name.
