Planting Season Begins: Watch For Farm Equipment on Area Roadways

FROM STATE SOURCES

STATEWIDE -- The State Department of Agriculture is asking drivers to use caution and slow down as planting season begins across the state.

The department estimates 15 million acres of crops will be planted across the state in the coming weeks.  That means you’ll see more farm equipment out on area roads.

Officials remind drivers that farmers will pull over when they are able to let you pass so be patient.  They need to find a safe place to pull over.

Farm equipment is wide, so be careful when passing.  Farmers and farm equipment are on the roadways during all hours of the day, but it’s especially important to be watchful during dawn and dusk hours when your sight distance may be limited.
