Old Jasper Day Scheduled for Late May

Jasper - Old Jasper Day, sponsored by local organizations, has been scheduled for May 22nd in Buehler Plaza.


The event, sponsored by the Jasper Lions Club, Jasper Chamber of Commerce, and Patoka 2000 will take place on Sunday, May 22nd. All-day activities will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Old Jasper Day will feature a number of activities:

Strawberry Festival

The Strawberry Festival, presented by the Jasper Lions Club: the public is invited to enjoy strawberries, sandwiches and other treats all day long in the Shelter Houses by the Plaza.

Spirit of Jasper Train Rides

Rides, sponsored by German American Bank, are scheduled for 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. Tickets will be available at the Train Depot on the 22nd, only. Tickets will sell for $3.00 apiece.

Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides

Between 12:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., the public is invited to hop on a horse-drawn wagon ride near the Train Depot for a short ride around Old Jasper. There is no charge to ride but donations will be accepted.

Patoka 2000 Duck Race Ticket Sales

Tickets will be on sales for the Patoka 2000 Duck Race, scheduled for July 14th. Proceeds benefit the beautification of Jasper efforts in and around the Patoka River area. You can sponsor one plastic duck for $5 or three for $10.

Concert in the Gazebo

From 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Jed Guillaume will perform. Smithville Fiber is sponsoring the afternoon concert in the park.


In addition, the public is invited to tour the Historic Barn and Alexander Schoolhouse on East 4th Street.
