SPENCER COUNTY -- It was a tornado that touched down in Spencer County New Year’s Eve, according to the National Weather Service.

The F0 tornado caused minor damage along CR 925 near the intersection of 62 and 162.  The twister was relatively small, but it did cause some minor damage to rural parts of town.

The National Weather Service was on the ground in Spencer County Wednesday surveying the damage.

There time, however, was limited.  14 News reports the partial government shutdown forced meteorologists to cut their survey short.

Even with the shorter survey, those experts still believe it was a tornado that touched down.

Luckily, no one was hurt.
