JASPER -- Officials have announced McAlister’s Deli will open in a new 3,400 square foot building in the Germantown Shopping Center later this year, according to the Dubois County Free Press.

The new restaurant will be built in front of TJ Max and Kohl's on Jasper's northside.  It will seat about 120 people and feature a small patio and pick-up window for customers who call ahead or order online or on the app to drive up for pick up.

David Blackburn, CEO of Southern Rock Restaurants, the largest McAlister’s franchisee in the country, tells Matt Crane with the Free Press that he is looking forward to bringing the restaurant and its famous McAlister’s Sweet Tea to Jasper. The fast-casual restaurant chain features sandwiches, soups, salads, spuds, and more on a menu that can be ordered from online, on an app, or in person.

Blackburn’s Tennessee-based company owns and operates 93 McAlister’s Deli restaurants in Tennessee, Mississippi, Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana. He has plans to have 97 locations by the end of the year.

The Jasper location is expected to open in early October.
