JASPER -- State health officials report 68 new cases of COVID-19 in Dubois County over the weekend.

The Health Department reported 1125 total cases on Friday.  Today, the state dashboard puts our total at 1193.  We will get a more detailed breakdown from local health officials later today.

We haven't seen a jump that big since mass testing was done at a local factory early on in the health crisis.  Dubois County remains under a CODE ORANGE designation.

Warrick County is reporting 27 new cases; 10 in both Daviess and Orange Counties.  Pike County has eight new cases (they remain under a CODE RED designation).  There are four new cases in Perry County; three in Spencer County and just one new case in Martin and Crawford Counties.

The Dubois County Health Department also announced two residents died from the virus last week.

The first was reported on Thursday; another on Friday.  It brings our death toll to 21.

Dubois County Health Officer, Dr. Ted Waflart said in a statement, “This loss is deeply felt by our entire community. Now more than ever, each of us must do our part to prevent the spread of this virus, especially to our most vulnerable.”
