HUNTINGBURG -- Officials with Farbest Foods processing plant in Huntingburg have confirmed an additional 5 employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

That brings the total to 106 workers who have tested positive for the virus.  Officials say the patients range from ages 18 to 64.  Those over 65 have been off of work with pay.

All employees at the plant were tested for COVID-19 on Friday after confirming 42 workers at the plant tested positive for the virus last week.

In a statement released Monday, company officials said, "of those 588 tested, 101 of those were confirmed asymptomatic positives from various counties, while 464 of those tests results were negative and 23 tests are still pending verification."

The turkey processing plant plans to reopen Wednesday.

Results came back negative on swabs taken from high-touch surfaces in the Huntingburg plant.
