NE Dubois Schools Inspecting Flood Damages

Dubois - Monday thunderstorms forced Northeast Dubois into an E-Learning day on Tuesday, and have local agencies inspecting flood damages.

Northeast Dubois announced the Tuesday E-Learning day in a Facebook update on Monday night. Damage to the Intermediate school is not yet known, though Superintendent Bill Hochgesang hopes to have a clearer picture Tuesday afternoon.

In a Facebook post, the school corporation thanked groups who aided in the cleanup efforts:

" A huge Thank You to the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department, Dubois Water, Patoka Lake Water, One Moore, and multiple other people who helped out this evening at school. The Intermediate School has a lot of water damage and a lot of cleanup and hurdles to clear, but the assistance from the community has been fantastic!"

At this time, it is not known when students will be able to return to the building.

This is an ongoing story and WITZ will provide updates as they are available.
