Monday is the Deadline to Register to Vote in This May's Primary

STATEWIDE -- To cast your ballot on May 8, you must be registered to vote no later than Monday.

The Secretary of State's office is also encouraging already-registered voters to check their registration status and ensure that all of their voter information is correct.

You can register online or check your voter record at Indianavoters.com or by texting Indiana to 28683. If you wish to register to vote online, you must submit a valid driver's license or state ID number.

To vote in Indiana, you must have a valid state-issued ID or driver's license and also be:

- A U.S. Citizen

- A resident of Indiana for at least 30 days before the election

- 18 years old

- 17-year-olds can register and vote in the primary if they will be 18 on or before the Nov. 6 general election

- If you wish to register to vote but you do not have a driver's license or state-issued ID, you can register to vote in person at county government centers and at your local BMV.

When registering in person, you must provide a utility bill, bank statement, tax document or other proof of Indiana residency and address.
