Mid-State Corridor Group to Meet With City/County Leaders Thursday

AREA WIDE -- Funding a feasibility study for the Mid-State Corridor Project will be the topic of discussion during meetings today between the group charged with getting the project off the ground and leaders of Dubois County and the cities of Huntingburg and Jasper.

The $7 million will be split between private businesses and public entities in a public/private partnership.

Jasper State Senator Mark Messmer tells me a law he

worked on last legislative session opened the door for the

project to move forward, creating the RDA in partnership

with Spencer County, and allowing the RDA authority

group to begin working on gathering federal FASTLANE funds.

The corridor would connect from the Ohio River in Spencer County, through Dubois County to I-69.

Supporters of the project say it would ease traffic on area roadways and boost the local economy, adding jobs and attracting businesses to the area.

The Mid-State Corridor Authority plans to discuss the project Monday when members meet with Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb.
