Memorial Hospital Sets Up Alternative Screening Site For Some Non-Emergency Tests

JASPER -- Officials at Memorial Hospital area making changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

They’ve announced new visitation restrictions and set up an alternative screening site for patents who have symptoms of a respiratory illness but don’t require the hospital’s emergency services.

The screening site is located at 695 West Second Street.  The entrance is on the west side of the building.  Follow the yellow signs.

Services provided at that site include testing for the flu, strep throat, RSV and chest x-rays.  At this time, the hospital is unable to provide COVID-19 testing at the site or in the ER unless the patient meets criteria set by the State Department of Health.

Memorial Hospital has also cancelled all classes, support groups, events and public health screenings through, at least, April 3rd.

As we continue to closely monitor and proactively plan for COVID-19, Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has developed an Alternative Screening Site, located at 695 West Second Street (entrance on the west side of the buildingfollow the yellow signs) for those patients who do not require emergency department services, but who have symptoms of fever, cough, and respiratory congestion or shortness of breath. 

Services provided at this site will include the following: testing for influenza A & B, strep throat, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and chest x-rays. At this time, we are unable to provide COVID-19 testing at this site or at the Memorial Hospital Emergency Department unless the patient meets the criteria defined and authorized by the Indiana State Department of Health. 

This site will open today, Monday, March 16th at 9am and will remain open MondayFriday from 9am-9pm. Patients may call 812-996-6330. Memorial Health Employer Services and Memorial Hospital Outpatient Rehab Services will remain open at the Memorial Health Center Second Street location. These locations have separate entrances. 

Patients visiting the Alternative Screening Site are asked to follow the yellow signs for the appropriate entrance.
