JASPER -- Tom Moorman has been picked to head the Jasper Parks Department.

Mayor Dean Vonderheide appointed Moorman to the role as Parks Director this week after interviewing four candidates for the job.  In a statement announcing his appointment, Vonderheide said Moorman stood out from the other candidates for the job.

He’ll begin his new role on January 1st.

"I am pleased to present to the Park Board, the staff, and the public virtually today, my appointment, Tom Moorman, to the role of Park Director, effective January 1, 2021.  Tom and his spouse, Becki, have three children and have been residents of Jasper for the past 23 years.  The passion Tom has displayed toward the advancement of the community is notable.  He has a proven history as a leader and has been involved in the community in various leadership roles, including recent completion as President of the Chamber of Commerce."

He’s been active in his church, the recently formed “Heart of Jasper”, and in the Jasper Football Boosters Club.

Tom has a history of creating solid and productive partnerships and has a great understanding of the value of our park assets in providing “quality of place” to retain and attract residents to our community.
