Mayor Elkins Has Declared a Snow Emergency for Huntingburg.

Due to the extreme winter weather, the Mayor of Huntingburg has declared a snow emergency. A snow emergency is declared due to the accumulation of snow or ice upon city streets which cause them to become impassable or hazardous to drive upon. The city requests that residents move cars from snow emergency routes immediately. To prevent the expected ice from sticking to city streets, the street department is leaving a layer of snow on the roads and snow plowing will be temporarily paused. Snow plowing will begin in full force after the predicted ice/freezing rain subsides. Critical service personnel will continue to ensure the safety of all residents. All City of Huntingburg offices will be closed on Monday, January 6, 2025. The Huntingburg Transit System will not be operating. The city is urging residents to stay home. Please remember to call 211 if you need a warming center. In case of a utility emergency, please call Huntingburg Emergency Line at (812)683-2327. Please follow City of Huntingburg Facebook page for more details.
