Man Drowns in Lake Near Wadesville

POSEY COUNTY -- A man who was trying to get a hook out of his hand fell out of a boat and drowned Tuesday in Posey County. The lake is located near Wadesville.

"Two people were fishing. They were in a small john boat- a john boat or a little rowboat," said a spokesperson for the Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement. "When the gentleman caught a fish, evidently, according to the witness, a hook got stuck in his hand with a fish still on the line."

The man fell out of the boat into about 10 feet of water when it capsized. The woman who was with him tried to save him, but was unable to, said the spokesperson.

The man's body was found after several hours of searching.
