Local Back to School Event Includes Food Trucks, Half-Pot Raffle, and Trivia Contest

Evansville- A county-council hopeful and local unions are hosting a back to school event in Evansville. 

Reising for County Council, IBEW Local Union 16, and UA Local 136 present a Back to School Celebration to say goodbye to summer and kickoff the new school year. The event will be held Thursday August 4th from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Howell Park Shelter House (1101 South Barker Avenue Evansville, IN) , and is open to the public, with many of the activities being free.

Food trucks, including Chino Taco and Kim’s Chuck Wagon, will be on site offering such favorites as Crab Rangoon, Szechwan Beef Tacos, Balsamic BBQ Pork Tots, and Sloppy Cowboy Joes for sale. 

Event goers can enter a half-pot raffle drawing for a chance to win the cash prize. Half-pot ticket prices are 1 for $2, 3 for $5, 5 for $10, and an arm’s length for $20. Attendees can compete in a trivia contest emceed by University of Southern Indiana Archivist Jennifer Greene for a chance to win one of three prizes. The trivia competition will take place from 7 to 8 pm, and the fee is $10. 

Guests are invited to play putt-putt and enjoy hot dogs and Kona Ice sno cones for free. Also free are the kids’ coloring contests, featuring prizes from Paragon Promotions. Democratic candidates Karen Reising, Kathryn Rybak, Dustin Stephens, and Ryan Stratman will be on hand to meet and talk to voters. Most activities will take place inside the air conditioned Shelter House.
