JUST IN: Most of Otwell's 4th of July Festivities Will be Cancelled This Year Due to COVID-19

FROM LOCAL SOURCES

OTWELL:  The Jefferson Township Ruritan Club has announced it will cancel most of this year’s 4th of July events.

In a statement released Friday, officials say the only events that are tentatively scheduled will be on July 4th itself.  It was originally supposed to be a 3-day event.

The events that are tentatively scheduled to go on include the parade, BBQ Chicken / Rib Dinners, ice cream sales and fireworks.  Any further decisions on these events will be determined by local, state and federal guidelines.

If a few events can go on, officials say they will strictly follow CDC guidelines associated with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and social distancing.

Event organizers say they apologize the decision had to be made and hope “your families continue to stay safe during this unprecedented time.”
