Jasper Man Arrested on Four Charges After Sunday Traffic Stop

Jasper - A Sunday traffic stop resulted in four charges for a Jasper man.

At 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, an Officer with the Jasper Police Department conducted a traffic stop with a Chevrolet Silverado in the Huck's parking lot for disregarding a traffic control device at the intersection of 5th St. and US 231. 

During the course of the traffic stop it was learned that Brandon J. Wilkie, 39, of Jasper, was driving with a suspended license. 

While speaking with Wilkie the officer developed suspicion of criminal activity. JPD K9 Ares was deployed and gave a positive indication to the presence of an odor of a controlled substance coming from within Wilkie's truck. 

A subsequent search of his truck was done and while searching officers located marijuana and two different prescriptions that he possessed that were not prescribed to him. Wilkie was arrested on drug charges and transported to the Jasper Police Department. 

Prior to transporting Wilkie to jail, it was discovered that Wilkie had concealed two more bags of marijuana inside of his pants.


Wilkie was charged with Driving while Suspended, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Legend Drug, and Obstruction of Justice.
