Jasper Man Arrested for Leaving Scene of Accident Totaling Two Vehicles

Jasper - A Jasper man has been charged for leaving the scene of an accident that totaled two vehicles on Thursday.


At 8:03 p.m. Thursday night, Jasper Police Department was notified of an accident at the intersection of Sixth Street and Newton Street. The vehicle which officers determined to have been at fault for the two-vehicle wreck had left the scene prior to their arrival at the scene.

The driver of the 2002 Honda Civic involved in the collision, identified as Junior Alexander Yanes Hernandez, 30, of Jasper, was later located at his residence.

Hernandez was paced into custody and charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Operator Never Licensed, and issued a citation for disregarding a lighted signal.

No injuries were reported by the Jasper Police Department; both vehicles were totaled.
