Jasper Man Accused of Trying to Take Officers' Weapons Following Overnight Incident

JASPER -- A Jasper man is in jail today on some serious charges following an incident overnight.

Police say 32-year-old Joshua Cummins was causing a disturbance around 9 p.m. in the 300 block of East 6th Street.

Cummins was arrested.  That’s when he allegedly became combative while in a holding cell; punching one officer and attempting to take a holstered gun away from two officers.

He’s charged with Harassment, Disorderly Conduct, Intimidation, Resisting Law Enforcement, Battery on a Public Safety Official and Attempting to Disarm a Law Enforcement Officer.
