Jasper- Throughout Jasper there is various construction projects taking place.

The biggest project is Jasper’s Downtown Revitalization and Infrastructure project on the courthouse square. After facing supply chain troubles, the project will not have two quadrants done by Thanksgiving, which was the original hope. After facing other bumps in the road, there does appear to be a light at the end of the tunnel.

“We will get our permeable pavers in by the second week of December,” said Jasper Mayor Dean Vonderheide, “They should be in place the second week of December.”

The pavers were the only material still delayed for the project. Once they arrive, crews will have all the materials needed for the remainder of the project, including the three other quadrants.

Work is expecting to stop in the coming weeks for the Holiday season. Crews will resume work in January 2023, starting with the Northwest Quadrant before moving counter clockwise, finishing with the Southeast Quadrant. Following the completion of the quadrants, phase two will begin. In total the project is currently projected to finish around October 2024.

Other projects include the storm-sewer work being done at 3rd and Newton Streets. Once the installation is completed, the state of Indiana will be paving the roadway.
