Jasper Bicyclist Rushed to Memorial Hospital After SUV Hits Him in Crosswalk

JASPER -- A Jasper man was rushed to Memorial Hospital late Monday morning after he was hit by an SUV while riding his bike.

It happened just after 11:10 a.m. Monday in the 3600 block of Portersville Road.

Police say the bicyclist was crossing the street in a crosswalk when he was hit.  The impact threw the victim and his bike onto the roadway.  The bike was thrown about 25 yards north of the impact.  The victim suffered from a broken ankle, a laceration to his head and road rash to multiple parts of his body.

The driver of the Chevy Trailblazer, Alicen Ingle of Jasper, was cited for Failure to Yield with Bodily Injury.
