Jasper Arts Prepares 50 th Anniversary Season
Jasper Arts is hard at work making plans for their fiftieth anniversary season.
The Cultural Center has been busy with classes, workshops, and performances this month.
Season ticket sales have been going well, and the numbers for renewals have been strong. The
season announcement will be Thursday, July 3.
In the gallery, several exhibits are on display and the new Kevin Titzer installation will open this
week for the First Thursday Event. The artist will lead a gallery talk at 5:30. He has also
collaborated with filmmaker Jordan Barclay on a documentary project about the installation,
Sack Race With Knives: The Curious Art of Kevin Titzer. Although the film will not be displayed at
First Thursday, it will be showcased at a later date.
The Juneteenth event was well-received, with over 250 attendees. On July 24, there will be a
German flag wood cut to celebrate Strassenfest. Clay classes and workshops will continue
throughout the summer, and the next Camp Create will welcome 16 campers on July 14.
The submission deadline for the Juried Exhibition is July 13, and instructions can be found on
the website. The gallery lineup of 8 artists was approved and will soon be announced to the
public. The education season was also approved.
The 2025 Beehive Arts Market will hold a special fundraising night on October 24. The ticketed
event will feature entertainment, a silent auction, passed hors d’oeuvres, food stations, and
more. On Saturday the 25 th , the event will open to the public. July 31 is the deadline for artist
submissions. Eleven artists have already been approved. This year’s event will be held indoors
and will focus on fine art.
In other business, the clear bag policy will not be implemented at this time, although there will
be a bag check at select performances. The board accepted a bid for Brickyard Ceramics for a
new kiln for the clay studio. Out of the three bids submitted, Brickyard’s was the least
expensive. It includes both a one-year guarantee and furniture that fits the kiln, and the
organization has had a working relationship with Jasper Arts for over 15 years. Bids will also be
sought for a new lawnmower for the auditorium.
