INDOT to Close Portion of SR 257 in Pike Co. Starting Wednesday

From INDOT

PIKE COUNTY – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces daytime road closures for State Road 257 in Pike County.

Beginning on or around Wednesday, April 3, INDOT maintenance crews will close S.R. 257 between S.R. 56 and S.R. 64 for multiple pipe replacement operations. Work will begin after school buses have run each day and is expected to be completed in time for school traffic to pass through. Crews will be excavating drainage structures across the roadway, replacing the old pipes and filling the pavement cuts in with gravel. The fill material will be compacted under normal traffic conditions. Crews will then come back within a few days to permanently repair the pavement cuts.

Depending upon weather conditions this operation is expected to last until the end of the week. Rain could cause delays. Local traffic will have access up to the points of closure, however through traffic should use the official detour using S.R. 56, S.R. 61, and S.R. 64. INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
