Indiana's Tourism Industry is Being Hit Hard By Pandemic, Uncertain Weeks Ahead

STATEWIDE -- One of the biggest industries being heavily impacted by the coronavirus is tourism.

More than 80,000 people in central Indiana alone depend on tourism business to make a living. With conventions and other events being canceled, and hotels and restaurants being closed, many workers in hospitality are no longer earning paychecks.

Chris Gahl, Senior Vice President of VisitIndy, says they are now trying to figure out how to move conventions that had been slated for this time of the year, to later in 2020.

Gahl is trying to remain optimistic, saying he hopes events can be postponed and rescheduled for June or July.
